Facilities

Located in Nanchang City, the capital of Jiangxi Province in China and “the place of raising military flags”, ECJTU covers a total area of nearly 2,820 mu, among which the area of all kinds of buildings exceeds 810,000 square meters. Apart from advanced equipment for teaching and scientific research totaling 520 million Yuan, the University Library houses a collection of more than 3.206 million volumes of printed books, and 2.274 million volumes of electronic documents.

Faculty

At present, the University has 2092 staff and faculty members, with over 1597 full-time teachers and 654 professors and associate professors. It boasts more than 400 outstanding talents at the national and provincial levels, including the Distinguished Professors under the “Chang Jiang Scholars Program”, recipients of the National Science Fund for Distinguished Young Scholars of China, leading talents in the National High-Level Talents Special Support Program, candidates selected for the National High-level Talent Introduction Program, candidates of the National “Hundred-Thousand-Ten Thousand Talents Project”, cultural talents of the “Four Batches” Talent Program of the Publicity Department of the CPC Central Committee, Young Scholars of the “Chang Jiang Scholars Program”, recipients of the National Science Fund for Excellent Young Scholars of China, Young Top-notch Talents of the National Special Support Program for High-level Talents, Outstanding Overseas Young Talents, experts receiving the State Council Special Allowance, Overseas Postdoctoral Fellows, candidates of the China Association for Science and Technology Youth Talent Support Program, and candidates of Jiangxi “Double Thousand Plan”, the “Ganpo Talent Program”, and the “Ganpo Outstanding Talent Support Program”. One team has been recognized as a “Huang Danian-style Teacher Team in National Universities”, one team as a “National Advanced Collective in the Education System”, and five teams as “Provincial Model Postgraduate Tutor Innovation Teams”. The faculty members have also earned numerous honorary titles, such as “National Model Teachers”, “National March 8th Red-Banner Collective”, “National Outstanding Teachers”, “National March 8th Red-Banner Pacesetters”, “National Role Model for Learning from Lei Feng”, “National Railway Youth May 4th Medal Collective”, “National Railway Youth Post Experts”, “National Railway Exemplary Youth”, “Jiangxi Gold Medal Teachers (Outstanding Teachers)”, “The Good Teacher in the Minds of Students in the New Era of Jiangxi Province”, “Most Beautiful Counselor in Jiangxi Universities”, “Jiangxi Youth May 4th Medal”, “Jiangxi Role Model for Learning from Lei Feng”, and “Good People in Jiangxi”.

Disciplinary Construction

The University covers 8 major disciplines: engineering, economics, management, literature, science, law, education, and arts. With Engineering, Materials Science, Computer Science ranking among top 1% of ESI internationally, it has 4 first-level discipline doctoral programs, 1 professional doctoral program, 3 first-class disciplines in Jiangxi Province, 4 postdoctoral research (work) stations, 20 first-level disciplines master's degree programs, 21 professional master’s degree programs, and 4 leading disciplines in Jiangxi Provincial Discipline Alliance. Additionally, it serves as an institution authorized to recommend master’s degree candidates for exemption from entrance examinations. Among its majors, 24 majors were selected as the National First-class Undergraduate Specialty, 19 majors were selected as the Provincial First-class Undergraduate Specialty, 4 majors were recognized as the National Distinctive Specialty, 3 majors were recognized as the pilot major of National Outstanding Engineer Education and Training Program and 16 majors were approved in the International Engineering Education Accreditation. Apart from having 19 courses listed as national first-class undergraduate courses, the University has obtained two Research and Reform Practice Projects of the Ministry of Education of China, one of New Engineering, another of New Liberal Arts.

Research and Innovation

The University actively implements the national strategy of strengthening the country through science and technology, and has made remarkable achievements in building research and innovation platforms, undertaking high-level research projects, producing high-quality research outcomes, and serving society. It has won several prestigious awards, including First and Second Prizes of the National Science and Technology Progress Award, Second Prize of the National Technological Invention Award, and Jiangxi Province’s first-ever First Prize of Excellent Achievements Award of Humanities and Social Sciences of the Ministry of Education, and has made significant breakthroughs in major research projects such as the Program of National Science Fund for Distinguished Young Scholars, Key Programs of the National Natural Science Foundation of China, Key Programs of the High-Speed Railway Basic Research Joint Fund, National Key Research and Development Programs of China, Excellent Young Scientists Fund Program (Overseas) of National Natural Science Foundation of China (NSFC), as well as the Leading Talent Program in Philosophy and Social Sciences of National Social Science Fund of China. Currently, the University houses 1 National Key Laboratory, 2 National & Local Joint Engineering Research Centers, 1 National-Level University Discipline Innovation and Talent Introduction Base, and over 40 provincial and ministerial-level or higher research platforms, including the Engineering Research Center of Ministry of Education. In the past three years, it has undertaken more than 3,500 research projects at various levels, including: over 250 national-level projects, such as 3 key projects and 7 sub-projects under the National Key Research and Development Program, 6 projects under the NSFC, including Key, Distinguished Young Scholars, Excellent Young Scientists (Domestic and Overseas), over 540 provincial and ministerial-level projects, and over 1,300 horizontal research projects. It has been granted over 1,000 national invention patents and more than 500 utility model patents. As the first-completing institution, the University has won: 1 Second Prize of the National Technological Invention Award, 45 provincial and ministerial-level awards, including the Natural Science Award of the Ministry of Education, Science and Technology Award of Jiangxi Province, and the Outstanding Achievement Award in Social Sciences of Jiangxi Province, among which 10 are First Prizes, and 20 awards from academic societies and professional associations, including: First Prize of the Science and Technology Award of China Railway Society, First Prize of the Science and Technology Award of the China Highway and Transportation Society, and First Prize of the Science and Technology Award of the China Communications and Transportation Association.
